Abstract. The article presents a theoretical analysis of the relationship between motivational orientation and professional identity of students at the initial period of study at the University. The peculiarity of the presented research is the increasing attention to the personal aspects of professional self-determination. Definition of the essence of professional self-determination and currently occupies an important place in the creative search of scientists of psychological and pedagogical orientation.
