Abstract. Article is devoted research and definition of a role of society in individual development of the person. In article such concepts as development of the person, its formation reveal. Representations about social determination of mentality is a problem of a theoretical substantiation of a source of occurrence and formation of the person. Disclosing of this problem gives the chance for working out of the practical technologies directed on formation of socially significant qualities of the person. A society, being active complete system, incurs a role of the subject defining development of mental processes and abilities of the person. Human activity and mentality as a component of this activity is formed by localization in the individual of ability to activity. The society isn't association of individuals, it is the process forming people and providing their organization.
