Abstract. The article is devoted to a comparative analysis of interpersonal relationships in middle age in people who grew up in a complete family and people who grew up without a father, and to identify the relationship between the image of a father and the features of building interpersonal relationships by them.

The data obtained in the work on the role of the image of the father in building interpersonal relationships can help people in need of psychological help, identify problems in family relationships, resolve conflicts with people from various small groups, and allow the results to be used for psychological correction.

The results can also be used in training courses in child psychology, in family counseling, in therapeutic groups, for example, in a group discussion. They can be applied by practicing psychologists and psychotherapists, educators, educators in psychoprophylactic work with parents of children and adolescents in the development of interventions aimed at improving parenting style, attachment, and related outcomes.

It may be important to use the empirical data obtained in social work with the population in the prevention of divorce and the establishment of the institution of a strong and harmonious family.
